ECScope 100 Frequently Asked Questions

1.  Will the ECScope 100 work in Mains (Power mode)?

No, the ECScope 100 will not work in mains (power mode).

2.Is it possible to take the ECG without a PC?

Yes, there is no necessity for a PC. The ECScope 100 itself contains an inbuilt PC, which is why it can use PC peripherals like the printer and USB key directly.

The ECGs can be uploaded to a PC (like photographs from a digital camera) for further distribution or for storage in an EHR (electronic health record).

3.How long does it take to record an ECG?

The ECScope 100 acquires the ECG signal for 14 seconds and is capable of printing out 10 seconds worth of ECG information. The entire acquisition process takes up to 20 seconds and the ECG signal is sampled at 1200 samples per second.

4.Will it print grids on white paper?

No, it does not print the grid. Using a paper with a grid saves on cartridge usage which is why we did not provide the option to print the grid.

We have optimized the colors for printing the ECG such that all ink tanks are empty when a cartridge is empty. No ink of any color is left. In other words all inks are used equally thus squeezing the maximum life out of the printer cartridge.

Note: In general a color ink jet printer contains 4 ink tanks – a black tank and three color tanks. Different proportions of the three colors are used to print all the colors. During normal computer printing not all colors are used equally. The cartridge ends up being replaced even when one ink tank is empty and the others still contain ink.

5.Is there a very steep learning curve to use this device?

Our feedback from the current users is that it is very easy.  In most cases it is the support staff that uses the ECScope to perform the ECGs.

6.How fast is a measurement taken?

See the answer to question 3. The printing time depends upon the printer used. It varies from a minimum of about 25 seconds (fast printer model) to 1.5 minutes (slow printer model).

7.Under what circumstances is the ECScope the right purchasing decision?

The ECScope 100 is the world's first hand held, 10 lead 12 channel, full featured, FDA approved ECG machine.

Our initial usage experiences are that it is ideal for

  1. General Physicians who are first time buyers of ECG machines
  2. In hospitals, for uses in a ward;  i.e. The medical technician would go around taking ECGs from patient to patient and bring it back to his/her office for printing.
  3. In Diagnostic Labs – especially where a technician needs to go to a patient to acquire the ECG.

8.Will it provide an open lead indication?

It will give an open lead indication immediately after recording but before printing. This will enable the technician to repeat the measurement while with the patient.

9.Any option available for online monitoring of the ECG waveforms?

No, not on the ECScope 100

10.Is there an option for open lead sensing before recording the ECG?

No, this capability is not available nor is it necessary on the ECScope 100. Other ECG machines print immediately after recording, so this is necessary to ensure that no paper is wasted and also to repeat the measurement while with the patient.

11.Since the product is technologically advanced, what about service & spare support in the future?

As part of all our regulatory approvals (especially ISO 13485), we are committed to supporting any Dyansys product for 5 years from the date of manufacture.
